Dear Primary School Families,
I hope this message finds you well. This week in the Primary School has been an exciting and enriching time, filled with a variety of meaningful learning experiences for our students. From engaging classroom activities to creative projects, the week has provided ample opportunities for students to deepen their understanding, showcase their skills, and grow as learners. Last Friday, our Kindergarten and Grade 1 students delighted us with their creativity during a spectacular Visual and Performing Arts Assembly in the PAC. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and celebrated the talents of our young artists! Celebration of Learning in the ELC This Friday, the ELC will host a Celebration of Learning, marking the culmination of their inquiry unit, How We Express Ourselves. This unit has been a vibrant exploration of creativity, self-expression, and collaboration, driven by the central idea: "We explore forms of art to create and express ideas or feelings." Our youngest learners have engaged in a wide range of artistic mediums, including music, visual art, sculpture, and theatre. These experiences have empowered them to share their thoughts and emotions in unique and meaningful ways. Throughout this journey, they have shown incredible open-mindedness and courage, embracing new learning experiences with curiosity while building collaboration skills. They’ve practiced active listening, followed directions with enthusiasm, and participated in creative explorations, revealing their growth as emerging artists and expressive learners. Principal for a Day Also on Friday, Ms. Simone and I will have the privilege of hosting two Grade 1 students as "Principals for a Day." This initiative arose from their recent unit of inquiry and Celebration of Learning, where students shared their reflections on what they would do if given the chance to lead as Principal. The students voted among their peers, and two emerging leaders wrote persuasive letters outlining their readiness for the role. We were so impressed with their initiative that we chose both students for this unique leadership opportunity. On Friday, these budding leaders will join us to shadow and contribute to our work as Principals for the day—a special moment to nurture their leadership skills and celebrate their creativity. Looking Ahead Next week brings even more exciting opportunities for learning and family engagement:
